Quite possible you may not agree with me on this, but still, lend me your ears. In kids soccer drills, the methods used to train small kids and older players are significantly different. Because the kids are exposed to everything for the first time and young players, on the other hand young players have experienced this many times before.
Yet, in soccer drills for kids, many techniques can be applied for developing great soccer players. It’s a known fact that kids ought to have lots and lots of fun in the game, in order to make them love the game. They will feel pressured if their interest continues to decline. The kids feel stressed and start thinking of doing away with the sport. Remain patient and just let the kids be themselves.
A lot of kids like playing the game because it’s fun whereas many other play for the sake of their parents. In either case, kids don’t consider any amount of rewards or trophies for playing the game. Many soccer coaches tend to completely ignore this aspect in kids soccer drills. They get on to the kids nerves to attain the performance targets like their physical capacity and skills. This results in kids not only feeling discouraged but also suffer from low-esteem.
In planning soccer drills for kids, it’s normal for a new coach to feel somewhat troubled initially. It may be because of difficult behavior of kids in the team. But, take it easy. It may take a little while but they would certainly understand the importance of punctuality and teamwork. They will also understand that only when they respect others will they get respect.
Here, it’s important for you to make sure that kids in youth soccer drills are exposed to the new rules gradually. This is so as they may not be acquainted with them and learn them at their own pace. Also, before you start something new, take the opinion of the kids well in advance. This allows the kids to understand the system and accept the changes willfully.
In the role of a coach, it makes sense that you help the kids develop some good traits as well. For this, you should observe the kids performance individually. Make certain that all the boys spend considerable time on the field and that you praise them whenever they do well. Along with this, it’s of equal importance that those who fail to comply with the stated rules are adequately punished.
This makes kids accountable for their actions.
But be cautious with it. Do not be cruel to the kid. He should not be mocked or made fun of. As an example, you can keep the boy away from a training session as a punishment.
